I never thought I’d love a Tessa Bailey hero more than I love Duke, but oh how I fell in love with Elijah. He is the perfect book boyfriend… a very sweet, southern gentlemen who was sadly left at the altar by his bride-to-be. Addison rescues him, giving him a place to hide out until the gossip dies down. They hit it off and she quickly become his safe space. BFFs who stay up late, cook each other meals, craft together and secretly pine for each other.Addison was so fun and full of life, funny and thoughtful throughout the book. Elijah is a really sweet guy who discovers his hidden desire for getting down and dirty, with talk and with action, especially when it came to Addison. I lost count how many times I laughed out loud. Of course, no Tessa book would be completely without sexy times and this book very much delivers. I have two words for you. ELECTION. NIGHT. *wipes brow*
I was so enraptured by this book. It made me laugh, it made me tear up, it made me feel so many things… but the biggest reason I love it so damn much is because I was so absorbed in the story I almost missed my subway stop. I mean, how can you not love a book where the hero’s booty has its own twitter account?

I really enjoyed reading Getaway Girl - it was a really fun read with just the right amount of angst. Plus it was super hot. SUPER HOT times between the 2 main characters. I haven't read a new book by this author in around 18 months - no particular reason, my TBR list pretty much exploded and I just haven't kept up. But this book reminded me why I've enjoyed her work in the past, and I'll definitely pay more attention to her new releases from now on.
The 2 main characters Addison and Elijah are from completely different backgrounds, and their first introduction happens after Elijah is left waiting at the church by his absent bride on his wedding day. They slowly become best friends - although Addison feels a lot more towards him than just friends, but if you don't think you have a chance of getting what you want then being in the friend zone is better than nothing, right!!!! From Elijah's viewpoint, Addison treats him like no-one else ever has - she has different expectations to everyone else in his life, she's kinda mean to him at times ( which is pretty funny!) and she quickly becomes his safe place. Elijah was pretty clueless at times, but he makes up for it by being so HOT! A really enjoyable story.
This book has been sitting on my iPad since April. I hesitated to buy it and then for one reason or another chose not to read it since then. I thought it was an awesome read, but I’ll be honest if you have specific requirements for what you think your hero and heroine should be or how they should act or you’re hoping there is going to be a lot of drama from the runaway bride then this might not be the best book for you. To enjoy this book you have to let your expectations and preconceived ideas go. If you need a heroine who is always strong and never insecure or vulnerable this not your book. If you need a hero that’s always dominating, possessive, headstrong, jealous and never insecure or unsure well this is also not the book for you. However, if you’re ready to navigate a story where the heroine has successfully managed to avoid love and the hero has until he meets his heroine managed to mistake fondness for love and want to watch what happens when real love hits you unexpectedly and leaves you clinging to it and at the same time fighting the vulnerability it exposes, well you might enjoy this. I don’t know, on any other day this might not have been a five star book for me, but today it hit its target. This is what my heart needed and I’m glad I caved and read it.
This book was such a cute, fun read! I loved each and every sweet, hilarious, sexy and tender moment in this story. The characters are wonderful and have a connection from the moment they meet. The book starts out with Elijah Montgomery in the role of the jilted groom and Addison Potts in the role of the poor relative of the bride-to-be and Elijah’s getaway ride. Elijah is Addison’s dream come true, and yet she can’t believe she develops an instant attraction to him.
I adored Addison, she is tough, yet vulnerable! She was truly entertaining, honest, quirky and kind-hearted. Elijah lives in the public eye, and she steps in to save him from the interference of well-wishers. She offers him a place to lay low after the public scandal of his failed marriage. Their instant kinship was absolutely delightful, she slowly becomes his safe haven. Their relationship is very domestic, tender and sweet. Their chemistry is too real to deny.
Elijah was such a great character, his sweet romantic gestures were adorable! He is an up and coming politician and a southern gentleman through and through. He is also a genuinely nice guy who has always done what was expected of him by his family. Addison brings out the best in Elijah and I loved how he lets go when he is around her. She takes his mind off of things that are stressing him out, she has her own perspective and makes him think differently. I found her to be the perfect heroine that fits Elijah's character really well.
They aren’t prepared for the feelings they develop for one another and I loved watching them fall for each other. The progression of their relationship was well-paced, sweet and realistic. They discover that they have much more in common than they ever thought.
This book was exactly the type of romance I adore, tender, funny, uplifting and beautifully written!
